Sloan Voxx (Voxxkills)
Sloan Voxx is the lead powerhouse for SYRYN and if you've heard our music or seen our shows, you'll know she's precisely that. Sloan started the project, SYRYN in 2017 with no chance of turning back! The evolution of Sloan's vocal adventure began with Classical and Opera music, steering into the bluesy roots of Aretha and Nina Simone through to Classic Rock, continuing onward to the 80's Hard Rock and finally to her current heartthrob, Metal. If you listen closely, you'll see components of each of these stylings of music in SYRYN's repertoire. This is Sloan's first band and she can't be more excited to get the project off the ground and the music into the eyes, ears, and hands of many! To the depths with you, and into your never-ending nightmare.
Lyxx Rose (Low-End Boomer)
Presenting Lyxx Rose! Currently commanding the rudder at the stern of SYRYN's ship, is a gale wind not to be crossed. She brings deep vibrations and grooves that turns every sailor's heart cold. Since getting her first bass at age 11, shes delved into studying the best riffs of classic rock, metal, soul, and punk. Combined with a little bit of blues, she's been bringing the storm in Calgary with vicious local acts such as Days I Die, Hybrid Divinity, and now SYRYN. She'll play you anything as long as it's heavy. If you're looking for a friendly swim, head back to the lighthouse!
Byron Gorieu (Slayer of Strings)
Byron got into metal and rock at the young age of 10 and started playing guitar shortly after. With song-writing as the main focus of his playing, he brings sounds and ideas from various genres into his innovative writing. His motivation to create unique music is at the heart of SYRYN's sound, drawing inspiration from multiple genres including thrash metal, prog rock, and even blues. Favorite players include Dave Mustaine, Steven Wilson, Chuck Schuldiner Guthrie Govan, SRV, and Adrian Belew.
Bryan Campbell (Human Metronome)
Bryan has been a lifelong musician and first studied music theory on the keyboard while quite young. He was always a fan of metal and got his first electric guitar in his teens. He began drumming when a band he was playing with was having difficulty finding a reliable and committed drummer. Not much has changed in that regard as he is playing less guitar and focusing more on drumming in the three bands he currently is involved with. One of his other bands plays blues and the other is a thrash band which puts some musical variety into his regular play schedule. Many of his musical influences include early 80's thrash, death metal, black metal and lately Finnish metal bands. He has always been interested in all aspects of music from playing to recording to live performances and live production. He enjoys spending time in his home studio exploring new ideas and creating music with fellow bandmates. The stylistic approach to SYRYN's drumming is to enhance the melodies and grooves without sounding overly busy or suffocating the musical space. Bryan keeps the beats musical while carving space for melodic guitar harmonies and Sloan's powerful vocals.
